Holidays of Thanksgiving

  • Congregation Shaare Zedek 212 West 93rd Street New York, NY, 10025 United States (map)

Autumn is our season of giving thanks, both as Jews and as Americans -- but are we giving thanks for the harvest or for something more? Is our thankfulness pinned to seasonal cycles or to singular moments in time? Explore the resonance between Sukkot and Thanksgiving through text study and a short history lesson.

This member-led class will be taught by Darcy R. Fryer (Ph.D., Yale, 2001) who teaches history at the Brearley School and edits the teaching column for Common-place: The Journal of Early American Life. She has also published several personal essays.
