Chai Minyan will join 40-50 meals across Manhattan in celebrating UJA-Federation of New York CommUnity Shabbat, which is taking place on Shabbat Shekalim. The week’s Torah portion distinctly centers around collective responsibility, and harnessing that power, UJA is unifying Shabbat gatherings across Manhattan and across denominations in an effort to bring together over 1,000 New Yorkers in this powerful experience. We are excited to join UJA-Federation in this effort, and we hope you will in turn join us for Shabbat dinner.
Registration is now closed. A limited number of spots may still be available at the full price; to reserve one, please call the synagogue office.
As a culmination to CommUnity Shabbat, UJA is having another convening, which Congregation Shaare Zedek is a sponsor: Communities of Character: A Conversation with David Brooks, on the evening of March 7th at Temple Emanu-El. David Brooks, an op-ed columnist at the New York Times, will share his reflections on character as well as engage in dialogue with UJA-Federation CEO Eric Goldstein about the bonds that unite our community in an increasingly divisive time. We hope you can join us! For more information and registration: http://www.sznyc.org/events/2016/3/7/communities-of-character-a-conversation-with-david-brooks
