This weekend, synagogues around the city are marking Solidarity Shabbat in support of Pittsburgh's Jewish community and in memory of those whose lives were taken. A national social media campaign led by AJC is encouraging us to stand up in the face of fear and #ShowUpForShabbat. At Shaare Zedek, our doors are open.
Our service times:
9:30 AM - Shabbat morning services (main level)
11:00 AM - Children's services (lower level)
5:00 PM - Shabbat mincha, seudah shlishit and ma'ariv (lower level)
In recognition of our collective grieving and processing, we will have two special guests joining us on Saturday:
Father Larry Ford from the Holy Name of Jesus Church (affiliated with the Franciscan Community Center where we meet) will come to offer words of support during our Shabbat morning service.
Aryeh Tuchman, Shaare Zedek member and Associate Director of the Center on Extremism at the Anti-Defamation League, will speak over kiddush lunch and answer your questions about anti-Semitism in the US.
Kiddush lunch is sponsored by Irving & Mina Engelson who celebrated their anniversary this week.
